Day 1 in Paris - Jetlagged

We made it. Flight was good. Brienna and Matthew said their seats were loud. They did not sleep much which did not help the dreaded JETLAGG.

We took an Uber to the Eiffel Tower.

We had intentions of making it to the top, but after walking to the first deck Matthew decided to sit it out there while Brienna and I went to the top! Well worth the view.

Here we are getting started - all smiles.

We procured tickets and set off for the stair climb to the first level.

First level observation has a see through floor. Interesting feature. Glad non of us was wearing a sun dress. Those little dots are people.

At this stage Matthew was done. Brienna and I climbed up to the 2nd observation deck.

From there we jumped on the lift to the summit.

It was very crowded. To the top and there was one final set of steps to get there after the elevator. Amazing view.

After hanging out at the top we headed back down to meet Matthew on observation 1.

After we met Matthew we were going to try and take a lift to the ground floor. FAIL. We walked back down.

We saw this cool tower on the way off the grounds.

Au revoir Eiffel Tower!

We went for lunch at a wonderful restaurant called Les Deux Magots.

Brienna is already tired of pictures.

We went for a long walk to the hotel after lunch.

Stopped at a really cool historical church Saint Germain Des Pres. It was free to go inside.

Outside around the corner was some French dudes playing music on the sidewalk. They were pretty good.

We walked along the Siene and saw the Musee D’Orsay but did not go in - they wanted to go to hotel.

Along the way we stopped to say hello to Thomas Jefferson!

Interestingly we walked by the US Consulate Building but I was not permitted to take a picture. A dude with an AR came over and said no pictures.

Matthew liked this building: Assemnle Nationale

We crossed over the river and walked through some park - near the Champs Elysees - that is Arc De Triumph in the background!

There are a lot of blockades up due to the Olympics so we kept re-routing around it. Here we are stopping for a water break.

Elysees.

Napoleon waved hello from the top of a building before we arrived at the hotel. Hotel Astoria - Astotel.

Brienna could not believe how small the rooms are - lol Matthew couldn’t care less - only glad to be resting in the room.  I was more surprised they did not comment on the lift.

This is their room. Has its own bathroom!

This one is my room. Also own bathroom!

Not sure what else is happening tonight. Matthew is done, Brienna is open for something and I am on a mission for some desserts!!!
